Amazing start to the New Year, thank you!

Journal Entry: Tue Jan 1, 2013, 11:17 AM
Important Info
A world of thanks to TiliaLinden who not only wrote the CSS but sent it back to me once my hard drive collapsed. She is not only an absolute saint but a great CSS-maker

Thank you!
This little section of my journal is taken to say a very special Thank You to anyone and everyone who has ever faved/devwatched/commented on any of my works. You support means a lot and I wouldn't still be here without you. :tighthug:

Thank you!
This journal is a massive thank you to those people who have made this Christmas/New Year period an amazing experience. I am forever astonished by the kindness of people on DA, their love of art and their dedication to the site. I've been a member for over six years now and I have never felt that the community spirit has been stronger. It's very special to see and be a part of so thank you. However, as I have mentioned there has been two things that has spurred me to writethis journal and I will go into them here to say a specific thank you to those people who made it possible.

Firstly, I was the lucky recipient of a three month subscription this Christmas given by winehaus as part of his 100 Premium Membership; 63,00 points project. Not only do I think this is an incredible thing to do but also amazingly generous and wonderfully uplifiting for the community. I was so suprised to have been a recipient, it really spread some joy. The reason I recieved a subscription was thanks to a suggestion by the lovely mimose-stock. I read her comment about me and felt genuinly touched! Thank you so much. Just as an afternote I would like to congratulate winehaus for getting the deviousness award for January 2013. After what I've seen him do within the community I think this was a justified and wonderful choice. Congrats!

Secondly, I logged on today aiming to thank the two people mentioned above for their generous support when I realised I had a mad amount of messages I didn't remember having before. After clicking through some of my comments I found out I had been awarded my second DD, the first of 2013!!!!

Enlightenment by Behana

Again, I am amazingly happy and incredibly grateful both to amazingly talented Aelathen who suggested me and the gorgeous Aeirmid for featuring me. I couldn't believe it (still don't :P)! The funny thing was I was making a texture based tutorial for the piece that got featured and abandoned it because I convinced myself that nobody would read it. So not only do I thank you fo bestowing this honour on me but also for restoring my faith in my work. Thank you so much!

So, thank you all for making my Christmas/New Year special. I'm not sure I have earnt it but I will endeaver to deserve it.

Much love and merriment for the New Year to all

Behana.

Just a quick one to let you know about some cool happenings. I suggested a beautiful photomanipulation to Aeirmid yesterday and was over the moon to see it had been featured today!

A massive congratulations to Aelathen on her first and very well deserved DD. She has such a phenomenal gallery that I was suprised she didn't have one already.
Please go and give her and her shiny new DD some DevArt love!

In other news I wanted to say how taken aback I was at how much love there's been for the Photomanipulation Favs journal that I posted. It's so great to have such a massive response ( over 1,000 views and 34 favourites!) and to give a showcase to some truly amazing artists.

I really hope you all enjoyed viewing their art and added many people to your watchlist because of it (I certainly did).

I longer spend as much time on DeviantART as I used to. As a result, I longer reply to favourites. I cannot apologize enough but I have such a backlog that it would take me years to get back to you all. Years that I hope to spend creating more art.
So instead, I am writing this message to say a Thank You.

Thank you for visiting my gallery, thank you for viewing my work, thank you for faving my art, commenting on it and watching me!

You are all amazingly, awesomely, brilliantly wonderful.
Have some cake. :cake:

esstera

Having stumbled across esstera’s gallery a while back I was shocked by the level of skill in her work. The painterly feel and the combination of many elements in her work is truly spectacular. The dreaminess and versatility of her work creates a range of different atmosphere and emotions. Her gallery also includes a small collection of promising Photoshop brushes that will hopefully one day turn into a full stock gallery.

As well as being a talented and skilled photomanipulator, esstera  is truly a community deviant with her aims being to get involved in the community (she is a moderator of TwistedFairyTales as well as contributing to many other clubs) and to appreciate art, which she does extensively. All her journals are taken up by staggeringly long features each with a different theme. The care that is taken to select each piece is indicative of an artistic eye and kindly personality.

I have also had a personal experience where I had not submitted anything for a while and she left a comment saying that she missed seeing my new works. Taking the time to encourage other artists is a gift we should all strive for.

Moonchilde-Stock

As a photomanipulator there’s nothing better to get the creative juices flowing than discovering an inspiring and talented stock artist. What’s even better is when you discover that he/she has a diverse gallery that can be relied on to supply resources from many categories. In Moonchilde-Stock’s gallery it’s the Nebulae stocks that really stand out. The variety of colour, texture and lighting provides everything an artist could possibly want as a background, texture or reference.

A co-founder and contributor in many stock clubs, Moonchilde-Stock actively helps in the community and is not afraid to share her knowledge with people willing to learn.

Having earned several awards including 3 DDs on her numerous accounts, I believe that Moonchilde-Stock is a worthy winner of Shoutboard Deviant March 2010.

“Future Stars” started on the 1st September 2007 after the announcement that The-Undiscovered  project has been closed, but sometime in spring 2008 it disappeared into cyberspace.

But now in 2009, Iardacil (an ex-staff member at the club) and her friend Behana wanted to restart the article with a new format.

The aim of the article is the same; to give exposure for promising, talented and outstanding photomanipulators, who have under 20 000 pageviews.
The featured deviants are chosen for their skill, works, originality and variety.

Our sincere hope is that these fortnightly features combined with our words of encouragement will help some new photomanipulators catch some of the limelight, but also to remind everyone here on DA that in the world of photomanipulations there are no borders.
The only limit is your imagination.

I have really grown to love the originality and style of annamajboroda's gallery. Each piece is wonderfully expressive but like no other artist's work i've seen before. Her use of muted colours and simple shapes conveys intense emotion rarely seen in other works. The beautiful simplicity will have you captivated.

The diversity of theme and stock use is what drew me to simoneheld's gallery. I love the many faceted gallery and the sensitive use of stock. Her determination to create something different pushes her work from good to better.

C4M30

The first thing that struck me about C4M30 was her impressive photography gallery. I love the use of contrast as well as the unique angles and compositions used to create truly magical and romantic artwork. This high standard of work is truly exceptional when taken in accordance with both her age and the fact that she is self-taught. Also, reading through her journals, comments and replies it becomes clear that this deviant not only possesses a high level of skill in what she does but also a sensitive and intelligent heart. Reading her articulate, emotional and truthful journals on racism and plagiarism I was inspired and motivated to do something to help.

A wonderfully rounded person and deviant I thoroughly believe that C4M30 deserves to be Shoutboard Deviant February 2010.

More updates than you can shake a stick at
Yes, that's right i am still alive although sometimes late at night it really doesn't feel like that. :zombie:. I don't really know why my life has become so unbreably hectic in the last couple of weeks, i look back and all i think is : what have i actually done? Anyway it seems like a lot at the time.

But, enough abotu my life..what about devart you cry! I have been a little more lax than i should be about checking my messages and i'm sorry. However, you will agree that it is slightly daunting not checking your devs for a couple of days, logging on and finding around 1200 devs waiting for your. Ouch. Anyway, sorted through them and again other confession, on some pieces i did fave and fun but i tried to make it less that 1/4. But if you are one of those people i am sorry.

In terms of me doing stuff, i don't see myself submiting work anytime soon. Apart from the fact that i have absolutely no time, i have little inspiration (migranes and work are getting in the way :paranoid:) but mainly because i have new exciting laptop that i haven't had a chance to install photoshop on yet. :(.

Weekly features are out, future stars are having to wait but this weekend they will be back! Also, this coming monday will see the launch of the shoutboard deviant project which i am very excited about. I want to thank everyone who has suggested someone for this, i have at least 10 suggestions and some really great deviants so watch this space.

Glancing at my front page i have noticed that i'm heading steadily towards 50K. How time flies, 3 years on here seems so short a time. I haven't quite decided what to do abotu it but i think that there will be a prize for the person who catches a screenshot and sends it to me first. Perhaps a sub? I'll think about it.

In other news i am obsessed with the a new american show called Glee. It's currently showing on Channel 4 in the UK and it is the sole reason why i am still sane, coping and vaguely able to communicate. It makes me feel happy. I only have time to watch it late at night on my own on my new laptop but at the moment it's the best part of my day.

Much love,

Behana.

I need you!
That's right. You may have read the below section on my new project but after some thought i wanted it to have it's own journal.
I want to start a monthly feature based on the Deviousness award.
Every month i'll feature a different deviant in the shoutboard, custom box, monthly article and Shoutboard-deviant club (under approval).
Anyone can be featured and for any reason.
So, this is where you come in.
Please get involved in any way you can but some ideas are:
1.) Promoting the project
2.) Suggesting a deviant

If you think of something else note me!

Hope you all choose to help!

Much love,

Behana.

In the spirit of the New Year and our wonderful community I want to launch a new project : Shoutboard Deviant.

The feature, based on the Deviousness award given monthly by DeviantART, it will feature a different deviant every month in my both my Shoutboard and in a custom box on my front page, as well as in a monthly article.

The deviant can be anybody and can be featured for any reason!

I have loads of ideas as to who to feature but i'm more interested in hearing what you have to say. I want this to be a community feature where everyone has a say and everyone has a chance. I don't want this to be a popularity contest.

So if you like what you hear and want to get involved note me at my main account Behana with your suggestions. If i get a fair number of notes i can't guarantee that i will feature your suggestion. But i hope that the February 2010 Shoutboard Deviant will be someone you feel deserves to be featured.

So get thinking and you never know it could be you!

pharrell-id
pharrell-id's gallery stands out by the original elements, the way artist combines things we usually see in photomanips with unexpected elements, and the result is refreshing, thought-provoking and beautiful to the eye. I personally think more artists, like him, who are ready to experiment and try new things, should be around here on DA more.

monika-es
It is always great too see an up and coming gallery of a talented artist who has their own style. monika-es's galery is a brilliant example of this. Even though not many of her works have caught a wide audience, she has stayed true to her style and her way of speaking through her pictures. The way those original compositions, great ideas and brilliant realization combine, the result is definitely something worth taking a look at. The impact of the images comes from originality, it should be reminded more often.

After the announcement that The-Undiscovered project has been closed, Iardacil, who was a staff member there, felt that there is now big gap for featuring up and coming future artists. So, to try to fill that gap a little, she asked her dear and talented friend Behana to help her and the result they produced this news article.

The aim of this article is to give exposure for promising, talented and outstanding photomanipulators, who have had little or no exposure so far. These deviants are chosen for their skill, works, originality and variety.

Maybe these fortnightly features combined with our words of encouragement will help some new photomanipulators catch some of the limelight, but also to give audience’s here some idea that in the world of photomanipulations there are no borders and the possibilities are endless. :bulletred: Looking through OZONE13’s gallery I see a lot of potential. She has a very good eye for colour composition and originality which stand her in good stead. I think in time she’ll be a very good artist indeed.

:bulletpurple:The hardest section of this article – to find someone who is good but has so few pageviews. Sometimes it looks impossible and all the people I found – they are not good enough. So, I was very, very impressed when I opened Turbomonkey3 page and saw so little number – his works are so impressive, there is so much colors, so great ideas and only 50 pageviews. I had no more doubts – this is just right place for him.

:bulletblue: Even though ultravixen hasn’t submitted much yet in to her gallery, her work is very impressive. I love the diversity and the way she uses colour and stocks in a simple way to convey emotion. A just reminder than simplicity is the best.

:bulletred: mis-fantasy has vivid gallery – not only when talking about the colors, what are bright and clear, but still dreamy and somehow pastel, the works and atmospheres she creates – there is this feeling – filled with mystic, magic and maybe even little surrealistic.

:bulletblue: I really like Saca’s work because of it’s movement and feeling. Her emotion and simple stock choices accentuate this and don’t overcomplicate her work with extra frills.

:bulletblue:MaciejZielinski has very impressive gallery – that kind of totally his own style and his own topics, so far and different from the art we see here most of the time – his gallery is a real refreshment and variety. The sense of colors and balance in every work, those little details and little things to notice.. A gallery I really admire

:bulletpurple:CindysArt, I would say, is the deviant whose works really stroked me from the beginning – she started with very unique, her own style and whenever she submit something new – you can just look at her work and know – it is made by her. And even thought she keeps the same style, there is always something new inside her works – the tons of details on every picture, the atmosphere created by colors – incredible.

As a photomanipulator I am constantly on the look out for inspiring stocks and resources. I've found that the best way to browse for quality stock is surprisingly, through news articles. Hence the idea for Behana's Bits n' Bobs.
I aim to give a little inspiration to artists who get stuck in an artistic rut, by featuring odd objects that with a little creativity could create something special.
I hope that this article helps you to find the spark you've been searching for.
