Been reading the wonderful Maria V Synder Yelena Zaltana series and it inspired this. If you haven't read them i highly recommend them.

Critiques

I've been reading through Kadri's critique and I'll have to agree with her regarding the scales. Though they may be a bit heavier than the fabric that gets blown by the wind, I think a slight motion blur or a 20 degrees angle would have given them a sense of motion.
A little tidbit I would have added is some highlights to the top of the hair and maybe the arms too. But that's just how I like things with well defined highlights/shadows.
I love the soft natural tones in this and the dramatic sky just as much and great job blending the texture once again.
Hope you won't mind my critique :)

I personally love your concept here. For me the desert has always held a privacy, and been a place for deep contemplation. The girl's patient determination, and the fact that she is managing to keep "the balance" (of a point of principle?) despite a raging onslaught, speaks of integrity, and is inspiring. The clouds with the contrast of dark sombre mystery and powerful warm glow suggest controlled strength and inner action. Much as I really love this picture I agree with Iardicil that "a something" does not quite sit well. The almost stationary cups are important and valid for my take on this scene, and maybe the girl's unblown hair, and the undisturbed grass and sand could be part of her "retaining balance" zone, but the dark line on the horizon seems a little too obvious a representative of the transition from the deep fantastical emotion of the sky, and the stark, still, personal "reality" of the desert space. You know what, I would be happy if you left it as it is, and maybe you intended to have the stark line, but if you decided to blend that transition from paint to photo I reckon it would be a cool small change. Thankyou for this work - definitely a "favourite" favourite. Joy to you - Warwick.

Makes me think of a bookcover. And I have a feeling that there is symbolism behind the image. :) Well done.

owO This is good, but I think the scales are the best part. It makes the model feel balanced in the wild desert, and it's like she calls upon punishment and justice...I think that's cool :p Kudos!

Thank you and sort of. More bizzare symbolism in my own head than in the book lol.

Searching for a little inspiration? Maybe this will help.
